David Weekley Homes Celebrates More Than 40 Years by Giving Back

Home builder donates $45,000 to local charities

Team Members from David Weekley Homes presented a check for more than $2,600 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville following the builder’s World’s Largest Showcase of Homes event.

Jacksonville, FL (May 17, 2017): The nation’s largest privately-held home builder celebrated more than 40 years of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives by hosting David Weekley Homes World’s Largest Showcase of Homes. From April 1-30, more than 9,100 visitors stopped by model or showcase homes across the country to see current innovations in design and décor trends.

As part of the company’s charitable and philanthropic efforts, a $5 donation was given to a local nonprofit organization for each visitor who registered with a sales consultant during David Weekley Homes World’s Largest Showcase of Homes, amounting to more than $45,000 for 18 local charities. In Jacksonville, cleaning supplies and more than $2,600 were donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville.

“It is my privilege to represent the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House who are benefiting from the amazing generosity of the staff of David Weekley Homes,” said Carol Harrison, development director for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville. “The words ‘thank you’ never seem to be enough to express our gratitude to those who go out of their way to support our mission. It is with extreme appreciation that we thank all of you!”

The monetary gifts are an initiative of the company’s CARE program that joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in all the communities in which it builds. This is accomplished by team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.

“I had a customer come into our model and I asked if she would register to help Ronald McDonald House and she told me the story about her daughter that was born with heart failure,” said Teresa Santos, lead sales consultant with David Weekley Homes in Jacksonville. “They were a young family with no money to pay for surgery and expenses. Ronald McDonald House was able to help with expenses and provide housing. Forty-plus years and seven surgeries later, her daughter was with her looking for a home. It was an amazing feeling to know that our company decided to partner with this charity that has helped so many families in need.”
