David Weekley Homes Companywide School Supplies Drive Benefits 18,900 Students

Houston, TX (September 13, 2023): David Weekley Homes, one of the largest privately held national home builders, helped 18,900 students nationwide thanks to its partnership with 18 charities across the country during the company’s ninth annual School Supplies Drive.

“We are very grateful for the ongoing support that David Weekley Homes provides to our Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay kids through their School Supplies Drive,” said Larry Bevis, interim CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay. “It makes an immense difference to both the parents and kids not only to relieve their burden but to ensure that our club members get a leg up in order to succeed academically.”

Companywide, more than $464,000 in supplies were donated and more than $18,000 in online donations were provided to students by team members, homebuyers, homeowners, real estate agents, and trade and vendor partners. Approximately 880 team members participated in the drive to help children, teachers and schools in need by contributing more than 1,100 volunteer hours to help make the drive a success. Additionally, the Dovetail Impact Foundation (formerly the David Weekley Family Foundation) donated more than $137,000 to these nonprofit organizations.

More than $464,000 in school supplies were collected at David Weekley Homes model homes across the country for 18 local nonprofit organizations during the company’s annual School Supplies Drive.

“Being able to participate in the School Supplies Drive every year is a great reminder to myself of how fulfilling it is to give to others,” said Shannon Burrows, lead estimator for David Weekley Homes in Austin. “It is great to see everyone in our division come together to help kids in our community. Being able to help them start their new school year with supplies is a small gesture by us, but it is something that means so much to them.”

The School Supplies Drive is a volunteer and philanthropic initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
