David Weekley Homes Donates Thanksgiving Meals as Part of Holiday Food Drive

Team Members collect nearly 175 pounds of food for the holiday

Chicago, IL (December 14, 2017): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its third annual, companywide Giving Thanks, Giving Back Thanksgiving Drive, collecting an aggregate of more than 213,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items in 18 participating markets. The company’s efforts provided nearly 226,000 meals to local families.

In Chicago, nearly 175 pounds of pounds of nonperishable items and online donations were collected during the two-week drive, which ran from November 1 to 15.

“We are so grateful to our team members and trade partners who have continually stepped up and helped make our Chicago Thanksgiving Food Drive a success,” said Dianne Lombardi, purchasing coordinator and member of the CARE council with David Weekley Homes. “It is a great way for us to come together and contribute to a great cause.”

Locally, the Thanksgiving Drive benefitted Northern Illinois Food Bank, an organization that provides nutritious food and innovative feeding programs to more than 71,000 people each week. David Weekley team members delivered the collected items to Northern Illinois Food Bank to distribute to families in time for the holiday.

“This support helps provide holiday meals so that families in need can celebrate together,” said Julie Yurko, president and CEO, Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The Thanksgiving Drive is an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
