David Weekley Homes Donates Thanksgiving Meals as Part of Holiday Food Drive

Team Members collect more than 6,500 meals for the holiday

Charleston, SC (December 14, 2017): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its third annual, companywide Giving Thanks, Giving Back Thanksgiving Drive, collecting an aggregate of more than 213,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items in 18 participating markets. The company’s efforts provided nearly 226,000 meals to local families.

In Charleston, nearly 50 frozen turkeys, 550 pounds of nonperishable items and more than $900 in monetary donations were collected during the two-week drive, which ran from November 1 to 15.

Locally, the Thanksgiving Drive benefitted Lowcountry Food Bank, a nonprofit organization that provides more than 26 million pounds of food across 10 coastal South Carolina counties annually. David Weekley team members delivered the collected items to Lowcountry Food Bank to distribute to families in time for the holiday.

“We are so grateful to David Weekley Homes for everything they did to make this a successful drive!” said Hailey Ezekiel, marketing manager of strategic initiatives for Lowcountry Food Bank.

The Thanksgiving Drive is an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
