David Weekley Homes Donates Thanksgiving Meals as Part of Holiday Food Drive

Team Members collect more than 1,900 pounds of food for the holiday

Denver, CO (December 13, 2016): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its second annual, companywide Thanksgiving Drive, collecting an aggregate of 147,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items in 20 participating markets. The company’s efforts provided more than 149,000 meals to local families.

Locally, more than 1,400 pounds of turkey and nearly 500 pounds of nonperishable items were collected during the two-week drive, which ran from November 2 to 16. Denver team members delivered the items to the organization to distribute to families in time for the holiday.

“Our Giving Thanks drive gives our team the opportunity to be a part of the change we want to see in our community,” said Bernadette Garcia, Project Coordinator with David Weekley Homes.

In Denver, the Thanksgiving Drive benefitted the Denver Rescue Mission, an organization that helps to meet the needs of the poor and homeless through emergency services, community outreach, long-term rehabilitation, transitional programs and assistance for permanent housing.

“We appreciate all the hard work and efforts on behalf of the Denver Rescue Mission,” said Lisette Williams, Community Relations Manager, Denver Rescue Mission. “We are very grateful to David Weekley Homes for the kind and continued support!”

The Thanksgiving Drive is one of the initiatives of the company’s CARE program that joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its Purpose of building dreams, enhancing lives in all of the communities in which it builds.

Team members from David Weekley Homes donated nearly 2,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable food items to the Denver Rescue Mission to benefit families in need.
