David Weekley Homes Donates Thanksgiving Meals as Part of Holiday Food Drive

Team Members collect more than 550 pounds of food for the holiday

Salt Lake City, UT (December 13, 2016): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its second annual, companywide Thanksgiving Drive, collecting an aggregate of 147,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items in 20 participating markets. The company’s efforts provided more than 149,000 meals to local families.

Locally, more than 550 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items were collected during the two-week drive, which ran from November 2 to 16. Salt Lake City team members delivered the items to the organization to distribute to families in time for the holiday.

“The Utah Food Bank is such an amazing organization and it is so rewarding to be able to help support and provide food for this charity,” said Sarah Gass, Marketing Coordinator with David Weekley Homes.

In Salt Lake City, the Thanksgiving Drive benefitted the Utah Food Bank, an organization that is committed to eliminating hunger in the state of Utah by providing meals to those in need.

“The Utah Food Bank would like to express our gratitude for the support of David Weekley Homes, whose food donation will provide 460 meals,” said Ginette Bott, Utah Food Bank Chief Development Officer. “This is enough to feed an average family of four for a month.”

The Thanksgiving Drive is one of the initiatives of the company’s CARE program that joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of building dreams, enhancing lives in all of the communities in which it builds.
