David Weekley Homes Partners with TreeFolks to Plant 750 Trees

Austin, TX (February 11, 2020): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with TreeFolks to help plant loblolly pine trees in Bastrop. Approximately 30 Austin team members, friends and family were on hand to assist the organization with planting 750 pine seedlings along the greenbelts and floodplains at Boggy Creek Greenbelt in Austin.

This is the sixth time the home builder has worked with TreeFolks, starting in 2014 to help replace 34,000 acres of Lost Pines that were destroyed in the wildfires in 2011. Shortly after the fire, TreeFolks committed to help Bastrop County and the Texas A&M Forest Service reestablish the forest on private land by planting two million seedlings over five years at no cost to landowners. In the last two years, the Austin team helped plant more than 1,500 seedlings.

“TreeFolks was amazing in providing us the space, materials, knowledge and resources to beautify our community,” said Chelsea Powers, a purchasing estimator with David Weekley Homes. “Coming together with our company to bond while benefitting the environment was great. I can’t wait to see our saplings grow into an inviting greenspace in the center of quickly developing East Austin.”

The partnership is an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that joins together David Weekley team members, homebuyers, homeowners and community partners, to live out the builders’ purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. Through the volunteer and philanthropic efforts of the CARE program, the David Weekley team is committed, active and responsible for enhancing lives in communities in which they work and live. For more than 20 years, The David Weekley Family Foundation has given more than $200 million to deserving nonprofits nationwide and abroad.
