David Weekley Homes Provides Repaird for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville

Jacksonville, FL (June 14, 2018): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.

In Jacksonville, the project benefited Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville, an organization that provides much needed housing and other support for ailing children and their families. Approximately 56 Weekley team members from the Jacksonville division volunteered more than 500 hours to repair and repaint interior doors and 1,200 feet of aluminum fencing.

“In the past year, David Weekley Homes has become a real part of our Ronald McDonald House family,” said Carol Harrison, development director for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville. “They have found so many different ways to impact how we deliver our mission to families of sick children. Our House took such a hit during Hurricane Irma and the curb appeal of the House had been compromised. David Weekley Homes and their employees purchased all the supplies along with taking four days out of their lives and workweek to devote to restoring the beauty of our Ronald McDonald House by sanding and painting our fence and painting large portions of our 66,000 square-foot House. We are so grateful and thank everyone at David Weekley Homes from the bottom of our hearts for caring about our families!”

This project improved the lives of about 1,100 people by providing post-hurricane relief in the form of building and fence repair so that the nonprofit organization and their volunteers can focus on the important work they do. The project included donations of more than $3,000 in materials and tools.

“I am grateful for being able to participate and it will forever be engraved into me,” said Mike Minter, lead warranty representative and CARE volunteer for David Weekley Homes. “If the work we did puts a smile on the face of one child or parent, then it was all well worth it. The greatest gift of all is the gift of giving.”

The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
