David Weekley Homes Provides Repairs for Base Camp Children's Foundation

Orlando, FL (June 14, 2018): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.

In Orlando, the project benefitted BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides year-round programs for children who are living with cancer and other life-threatening hematology-related illnesses, as well as for their families. More than 50 Weekley team members, friends, family and trade partners joined together to renovate two bathrooms, repair floors, paint, install kitchen backsplash and bring in new furniture.

“BASE Camp was honored to be the 2018 recipient for David Weekley’s CARE Build Month project,” said Terri Jones, president of BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. “From bright, fresh paint to finishing up our bathrooms and kitchen and so much more, we couldn’t be happier with the results! The BASE Camp kids deserve a happy special place to come and enjoy some normalcy in the midst of a crazy time in their lives.”

This project benefitted the 1,200 families in Central Florida who are served by BASE Camp annually. The project included a donation of nearly $4,500 in materials for the renovations and an additional $7,000 for furniture and supplies to update the rooms. Once the repairs were complete, the Weekley team also hosted a reveal party for the BASE Camp children with a ribbon cutting and cookies and candy to use for building “homes” of their own.

“It was an honor to be able to work on such a special project,” said Danielle Doyal, warranty coordinator for David Weekley Homes in Orlando. “To see the looks on the children’s faces when they saw the new and improved BASE Camp made all the hard work worth it. They deserve a fun, kid-friendly place where they can escape the troubles associated with their illnesses, and BASE Camp is just the place for that. I’m so proud of all our team members and grateful for the support of our generous trade partners. Their dedication to our CARE program allows us to truly live our purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives.”

The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives.
