David Weekley Homes Team Members Build Ramps for Operation Homes

Charleston, SC (June 14, 2018): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.

In Charleston, the project benefited Operation Home, a nonprofit organization providing critical home repair and other services for people in need throughout the Tri-County region. Approximately 16 Weekley team members devoted a day to building two accessibility ramps for families with medical needs who lack the financial resources.

“Operation Home is so very grateful for the David Weekley teams who built two ramps for disabled neighbors,” said Leah Donaldson, community operations manager for Operation Home. “Thanks to these great volunteers, two families now live in safe and accessible homes. They are no longer trapped in their homes, relying on others to help them get in and out and always fearful of fire and other emergency situations. The David Weekley volunteers also showed the clients that they are part of a community who cares about them and their safety. Thank you, David Weekley volunteers, for bringing home, health and hope to families in need!”

This project improved the lives of seven people by providing much needed accessibility ramps for two homes, as well as $3,000 in donated materials and tools.

“It was so gratifying to see what a tremendous impact we could make on a family’s lives in such a short amount of time,” said Doug Blanton, design city manager and CARE volunteer for David Weekley Homes.

The project is an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
