David Weekley Homes Team Members Build Wheelchair Ramps

Dallas, TX (July 11, 2017): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.

In Dallas, the project benefitted The Texas Ramp Project, an organization that has built more than 10,000 wheelchair ramps since 2006 for elderly and disabled clients. Approximately 200 Weekley team members from the company’s Dallas division joined together with several vendors to build ramps for families with medical needs who lack the financial resources.

“The Texas Ramp Project is proud to partner with David Weekley Homes for a second year. The volunteer and financial support this year has provided families and their caretakers freedom to leave their homes more easily,” said Gary Stopani, Texas Ramp Project board member and Dallas regional coordinator. “The impact will ripple through these neighborhoods as these folks can now continue to live in their homes more independently.”

This project benefitted 25 families by providing a ramp for clientS, which will help them be able to leave their homes without assistance. The project included donations of more than $10,000 in materials and tools as well as more than 1,000 volunteer hours.

We had a great Build Month again this year with the partnership of David Weekley Homes and the Texas Ramp Build Project,” said Clay Bagley, project manager with David Weekley Homes. “It is great cause that truly shows what our CARE program can give back to our communities.”

The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
