David Weekley Homes Team Members Help Build a Home for Habitat for Humanity

Chicago, IL (July 10, 2017): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.

In Chicago, the project benefitted Habitat for Humanity® of Northern Fox Valley, an organization which helps to eliminate substandard housing locally and worldwide by constructing and rehabilitating homes with the help of volunteers.

“We were thrilled to have the assistance once again from David Weekley Homes,” said Bill Klaves, development director with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley.

This new home build project benefitted a single-mom and her four children, providing them with a safe shelter for the family. The project included a donation of more than $1,500 in roofing materials, and help from 11 Chicago team members who volunteered a total of 88 hours to build a back deck and front porch stairs.

“I feel very fortunate that I was able to work on the Habitat for Humanity home in Elgin,” said Joan Svoboda, a David Weekley Homes sales consultant in Chicago. “I am thankful to work for a company that is more than just a home builder and I am so lucky to be part of it all.”

The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
