David Weekley Homes Team Members Renovate Judi's House

Denver, CO (June 19, 2019): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 19 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.

In Denver, the project benefitted Judi’s House, an organization dedicated to helping children and families grieving a death find healing. Approximately 20 Weekley team members from the company’s Denver team volunteered more than 55 hours to complete renovations at Judi’s House, including building shelving and organizing inventory in the basement, adding picnic tables and landscaping, repairing a fountain, cleaning up the backyard and painting porches.

“We would like to thank David Weekley Homes for their efforts and coordination with the many projects that went on at Judi’s House,” said Peggy Coolehan, controller/human resources manager with Judi’s House. “We are all enjoying the fruits of their labor. The fountain, along with the picnic tables, creates a great space for the families and employees to enjoy. So many wonderful touches have made the house so inviting.”

This project is expected to benefit 1,400 families in 2019 by providing them with a more comfortable space. The project included donations of more than $2,000 in materials and tools.

“Grief is something that all people experience during some point in their lives,” said Bernadette Garcia, project coordinator with David Weekley Homes. “Regardless of your age, the loss of a loved one is never easy. The services that Judi’s House offers families, especially children coping with loss, is priceless. This year, David Weekley Homes chose to volunteer at Judi’s House because of the positive impact they have on not only children, but also the caregivers of these children. Knowing that our work would help grieving families feel more comfortable made it so worthwhile.”

The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $200 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
