David Weekley Homes Team Members Volunteer for United Way's Day of Caring
Charleston, SC (November 29, 2018): Approximately 22 team members from David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, volunteered their time to make improvements to Lambs Elementary School as a part of Trident United Way’s Day of Caring. In addition to planting flowers, laying pine straw and trimming shrubs, team members worked with students making fun Thanksgiving turkey decorations.
“The Day of Caring was a great experience,” said Leslie Simmons, a David Weekley Homes project coordinator in Charleston. “Being my first year, I really enjoyed the interaction with the kids who were all so energetic and enthusiastic about the projects. It was a great experience and opportunity to give back to the community during the holiday.”
This is the fifth year David Weekley team members have volunteered in the Trident United Way’s Day of Caring at Lambs Elementary School. As a designated Title 1 school, Lambs Elementary School receives financial assistance for having a high number of children from low-income families.
As part of the company’s philanthropic efforts through its CARE program, team members, homebuyers, homeowners and community partners join together, to live out the company’s purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives.
The Trident United Way works in collaboration with community partners to make long-lasting positive changes in the areas of people’s lives by offering educational initiatives, financial guidance and access to healthcare to residents in the tri-county area of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.
