DAVID WEEKLEY USING NEW ENERGY-SAVING PRODUCT TO INCREASE THERMAL EFFICIENCY IN ITS INDIANAPOLIS HOMES

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (March 26, 2015): Known for building with energy efficiency in mind, David Weekley Homes has announced it will begin using a new sheathing product in its Indianapolis-area homes. ISO RED ci Polyisocyanurate (polyiso) exterior sheathing greatly reduces heat loss through wall framing. Advantages of using polyiso include a 10 percent higher R-value rating in homes. An R-value is a measurement of the effectiveness of a home’s insulation in resisting heat passing through it. The higher the R-value, the more effective the insulation’s thermal performance, resulting in lower energy usage for the homeowner.

David Weekley’s EnergySaver™ homes in Indianapolis are built to the Environments For Living® Program’s Platinum Level standards, backed by a heating and cooling energy usage guarantee. EnergySaver homes utilize building science to create homes that are more energy-efficient and offer homebuyers significant energy usage savings.

The builder also uses an advanced framing technique, which saves on lumber and allows for 50% more insulation than standard 2’x4’ framing practices. This, combined with enhanced window headers, more insulation in the attic and other features, makes EnergySaver homes tighter, quieter and more energy efficient.

The builder currently builds single-family homes in Carmel, Whitestown, Indianapolis, Westfield, Zionsville, Noblesville and Lawrence.
