Bridgeland’s Lakeland Heights Wins HBJ’s Landmark Award for Residential Development

(Cypress, TX – April 24, 2012)        Bridgeland’s traditional neighborhood development of Lakeland Heights has won a 2012 Landmark Award for Residential Development.

Awarded by the Houston Business Journal and announced at an April 19 gala, the Landmark Awards recognizes real estate projects that have made a significant impression on the Houston landscape.

Opened in 2010, Lakeland Heights blends visually diverse residences with plans for shopping and amenities to create a walkable, Main Street-style neighborhood. Extensive research of traditional Houston neighborhoods such as The Heights, West University Place, Southampton and Southside Place was conducted during development of design standards for Lakeland Heights, which is planned for 350 homes and features a mix of Craftsman, English Tudor, Classical and French architecture.

Amenities including the Lakeland Activity Center and Festival Park concert pavilion are nearby, as is the site for Lakeland Village Center, a future market square with shopping, services and dining.

Bridgeland recently announced a second builder for Lakeland Heights, J. Kyle Homes, headed by Jason Kyle Hammonds, whose family has been building in the Houston area for 25 years.

J. Kyle Homes joins David Weekley Homes in the neighborhood and offers homes on 42-foot homesites priced from the $170,000s and on 50-foot homesites priced from the $220,000s. Homes designed specifically for Lakeland Heights range up to 3,200 square feet.

Lakeland Heights also received early notice from industry experts, winning a 2010 Award of Merit for “Best on Boards Site Plan” in the 47th Annual Gold Nugget Award sponsored by BUILDER magazine and the PCBC home builder trade show and conference.
