Students Benefit from David Weekley Homes School Supplies Drive

Houston, TX (August 16, 2019): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its fifth annual, companywide School Supplies Drive in 18 cities across the country. In Houston, school supplies were collected for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, which provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-on-one relationships to positively impact their lives.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters is incredibly thankful for David Weekley Homes,” said Alex Dailey, vice president of community engagement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. “We are so excited to see what our littles accomplish with these supplies.”

The Houston division, along with team members from the company’s home office, donated approximately $4,000 in supplies. Combined, these donations helped prepare more than 1,000 students for the school year. In addition, The David Weekley Family Foundation provided a grant of $18,000 to fulfill a wish list for 300 school uniforms and 70 books for college.

“The School Supplies Drive is so important because we get the chance to make an impact in another child’s life,” said Ashley Fain, production designer with David Weekley Homes. “Being able to start the school year off with all the necessary items will help make a big difference in a child’s education.”

The School Supplies Drive is a volunteer and philanthropic initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
