At the age of 23, David Weekley had a life-changing experience that would inspire him to start his own company – a company that would be different. While working at a home builder, his supervisor wanted to substitute the use of a company car for the bonus he’d earned. David took his case to the company president who told him to take the Oldsmobile or resign. He chose to leave the company and decided to make a leap of faith and start his own business. His purpose was clear: he wanted to build quality homes and make the world a better place. For many people, a job is simply a place to earn a paycheck, but David wanted to build a company and culture that was different.
David established David Weekley Homes in Houston, Texas in 1976.
